5 SENTENCES ABOUT JUDGEMENT

The writing on the wall is based on the reading of, and about, Hannah Arendt.

JUDGEMENT CONSISTS OF TASTE AND FANTASY.
TASTE IS FOR THE ABILITY TO DISTINGUISH, TO STAND FOR SOMETHING.
FANTASY IS FOR IMAGINATION, FOR THE ABILITY TO PUT ONESELF IN THE PLACE OF OTHERS.

THE DISTINCTION BETWEEN GOOD AND EVIL IS SIMULAR TO THE DISTINCTION BETWEEN BEATIFUL AND UGLY WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE POWER OF METAPHORS.

IN ORDER TO DEVELOP OUR JUDGEMENT WE MUST USE AN EXPANDED WAY OF THINKING, SO THAT WE CAN INVOLVE IN OTHER PERSPECTIVES THAN OUR OWN. WE MUST USE OUR SENSUS COMMUNIS COMMON SENSE.

ULTIMATELY, IT'S THE HUMAN JUDGEMENT THAT MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO MAINTAIN A PUBLIC LIFE.

JUDGEMENT IS PROBABLY THE MOST ESSENTIAL ACTIVITY WHEREBY OUR SHARING THE WORLD WITH OTHERS IS UNFOLDED.
